BSc MLT course fees must be compared by exact award, campus, category and academic year. This guide uses a current BMLS example because the official schedule uses that title. It is not an average fee for every BSc MLT, BMLT or BMLS provider.

Manipal BMLS: 2026–27 general-category example

MAHE’s general-category fee schedule dated 4 September 2026, page 7 lists Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) at Manipal College of Health Professions, Manipal:

Schedule itemListed amount or period
Course duration4 years
Number of yearly fee instalments3
First-instalment tuition₹91,000
First-instalment other fee₹33,000
Refundable caution deposit₹10,000
Listed first-instalment total₹1,34,000
Remaining-instalments tuition aggregate₹1,82,000
Remaining-instalments other-fee aggregate₹66,000
Listed batch total₹3,82,000

The first-instalment total equals tuition plus other fees plus the deposit. The batch total reconciles as ₹1,34,000 + ₹1,82,000 + ₹66,000 = ₹3,82,000. These are the schedule’s figures; ask admissions to confirm the payment deadlines and exclusions for your application.

What this total does and does not mean

Three instalments do not mean a three-year qualification: this row lists a four-year course. The remaining amounts are aggregates across the remaining instalments rather than fees to repeat each year.

The deposit is refundable under the applicable conditions, but you still need it when paying. Do not describe the batch total as tuition alone. Living expenses, hostel charges and other items outside the course schedule need a separate budget; the MAHE fees page provides separate hostel and refund documents.

Compare colleges on a consistent basis

Save the exact campus, award, intake year and category beside every quotation. A different campus or foreign/NRI category can have a different row, even within the same university.

For each option, separate:

  • tuition across the whole course;
  • other compulsory academic fees;
  • refundable and non-refundable one-off payments;
  • examination or training charges outside the quotation;
  • monthly living expenses over the expected period.

If a college quotes “per semester”, confirm the number of semesters for which payment is required. If it quotes a total, ask whether deposits and mandatory fees are included. Do not compare an annual tuition rate with a different institution’s complete course total.

Build your own cost estimate

Use the course-cost calculator with your written quotation. Its inputs are your figures; it does not preload this example or assume a national average. Keep refundable amounts visible in your notes because cash needed now and eventual net expenditure can differ.

If the final year includes an internship, ask which tuition, training and accommodation payments apply during that period. Budgeting for only classroom years can understate the commitment.

Choose using qualification and training as well as price

The BSc MLT / BMLS guide explains award names, practical exposure and progression questions. Verify those before comparing affordability. This guide gives one documented example, not a ranked list or a fee promise from the institution.
